Coincidental encounters.
At the end of the day everything is about people right? And cheese. And Feminism.
I get asked, like everyone else, if I am a dog person or a cat person. "I am a people’s person," I reply every time.
It is not that I don’t like animals; anyone who has seen me close to a baby cow can vouch for me on that end. However, I have no capacity (or interest, to be honest) to be responsible for anything or anyone else. I am maxed out on my caring duties, and any leftovers of time, money, or energy I claim for myself unapologetically.
But it is also that I genuinely love people. And I shall unsurprisingly confess that I particularly love women! I find women fascinating and interesting. White, cis, straight men are so overrepresented everywhere that I mostly feel that “I already had that one". Nothing personal, but plenty of sameness in their uniqueness…
I know you can’t “have one already” because we don’t “own” people the way we do things or even animals. Maybe what I get to treasure as a form of ownership are some of the interactions. …
